Marketing Your House
When selling your house privately you will need to market the property yourself. There are a number of ways you can do this to try to get a quick sale:
- Put up a 'for sale' board outside the front of your property. Make sure the board looks professional and not home made or tacky or you will put off any potential buyers. You can buy professional looking boards over the Internet.
- Arrange to have adverts for the property in the local press. Make sure you include a good quality photo of your property along with the main details such as price, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and reception rooms, whether there is a garage, double glazing, central heating, gardens etc.
- You can use an online publisher or agent to market your property. Always shop around before committing yourself to one publisher or agent. The main things to consider when looking for an online publisher or agent are how much they charge and how many people visit their website and therefore how many people are likely to see your property advertised.
- You can hold an open day for your property, where viewers can turn up at any time during the day, without prior appointment. You will need to advertise the open day to ensure people turn up. Make sure you have plenty of friends or family around to help with viewings at busy times and take contact details of buyers that show an interest in the property.
