How do I go about selling my house privately?
Selling your property yourself means you will not be using a traditional high street agent to sell your property. Instead, you will decide an asking price and prepare details and photos yourself. You will then need to market the property, show potential buyers around your house for viewings and do the negotiating.
By selling your house privately you will usually spend less money than selling in the more traditional way but, arguably, you may not be able to market your property as effectively and it may, therefore, take longer to sell your house.
A great starting point when looking to sell your house privately is to look in local papers and property sites on the Internet to get a feel for what the market value may be of your property and what to include in the property details.
One of the best ways of marketing your property is on the Internet. There are a number of sites that will let you add your property details and will charge either a listing fee or a commission, which is usually much lower than estate agent charges. You can also advertise in your local press and can put a professional looking sale board at the front of the property.
