I am unhappy with my estate agent. Can I change agents?
Firstly, think about why you are unhappy with your estate agent. Is there a problem that can be resolved without you switching agents? Common problems that can normally be resolved easily with your estate agent include the property being priced too high, marketing strategies, and lack of communication between you and the agent.
If you do want to change Estate Agents bear in mind that contracts will often run for a period of 12 weeks. It is common for sole agency contracts to state that if you wish to change agents before the period is over you will be required to pay the commission rate to the agent, even if the property remains unsold. Always check the details of any contract before you commit to it and always ask if there is something you do not understand or are not happy with.
